Washington School for the Performing Arts student is preparing for temporary relocation in Austin for a couple of months to participate in a film project. Cafe Antarsia/Philippe Bertaud/Michael Tillman/It's Native/Mark C. Lowe International Music comes to The Kessler Theater! Fever in the Funkhouse lead singer Nik Brisco brings his gypsy jazz project Cafe Antarsia in for their debut performance at The Kessler. French guitarist Philippe Bertaud brings his unique classical guitar style to the mix, and Oak Cliff favorite Michael Henry Tillman returns with his unique Brazilian-influenced guitar and Latin vocal stylings. Dallas trio It's Native celebrate the release of their new album with a support slot in the front room. Mark C. Lowe will play Indian music on sitar all night in the K/X+ Gallery space.

Suzanna Choffel/Jessie Frye/The Lonesome Heroes. Austin, Texas-based pop singer-songwriter Suzanna Choffel headlines this fantastic line-up of distinctly organic roots music. In addition, North Texas-based Jessie Frye will make her Kessler Theater debut, and Austin's favorite bluegrass duo The Lonesome Heroes make their second appearance at the historic venue in North Oak Cliff.

Lynda Kay/Kat Edmonson. Sophisticated, country song stylist Lynda Kay returns from LA for a homecoming show. Her classic sounds harkens back to Patsy Cline. After finishing up a succussful Summer tour with Lyle Lovett, Kat Edmonson will be making her Kessler debut on this evening as well. 19 time grammy winning producer, Al Schmitt, says Kat Edmonson is the best new jazz singer I have heard in years."

Gary P. Nunn/Hunter Hendrickson. A founding father of the progressive country movement out of Austin in the 1970s, Gary P. Nunn has been bringing Lonestar Music to the World for over 40 years. All Music Guide hails him as “a Texas music institution.” 17-year-old hotshot guitar prodigy Hunter Hendrickson plays the support bill. Hunter was recently nominated as the best Blues act in Dallas.

Mark Growden. Gifted San Francisco-based multi-instrumentalist Mark Growden returns for his third appearance at The Kessler Theater. The Ft. Worth weekly describes him as "an avatar of bohemian weirdness on a par with Tom Waits or Joe Henry. " Co-headliner from Austin, Dan Dyer makes his second appearance at the Kessler. The Dallas Observer writes, "Dan Dyer sings with an instinctive urgency that incorporates elements of country, blues and soul, tying things together with what's universal in the best of each genre: intensity."

The Angelus / Fate Lions Two evocative American Gothic rock bands come together to light up the front room at The Kessler. The Angelus and Fate Lions offer songs that are energetic, melodic and textural. Lots of accomplished musicianship here. In addition, Wordspace Dallas will holding the first of what promises to be a monthly gathering inside the Kessler X+ Art Gallery space upstairs. RTB2/Nervous Curtains/Daniel Folmer. RTB2 returns to the Kessler Theater for a headlining performance on Friday, September 17. The band was recently nominated for six Dallas Observer Music Awards. Vocalist and instrumentalist Sean Kirkpatrick is the bandleader of Nervous Curtains, and they make their return to The Kessler as the support act for the show. Talented Denton-based singer/songwriter Daniel Folmer is the opening act. Doors open up at seven, tickets are ten dollars.

Chris Holt and Camille Cortinas Two fantastic Dallas based singer-songwriters share a bill at The Kessler. Chris Holt will be celebrating the release of his new album. On September 25, guitarist and composer Marc Ribot will be the featured
performer at the first "Storytellers at The Kessler", an ongoing
presentation featuring legendary musicians performing live at the
historic Kessler Theater in Dallas, Texas.
Ribot is perhaps
best known for his collaborative work with Tom Waits, The Lounge
Lizards, John Zorn, and Elvis Costello. "Raising Sand", an album by
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, feat...ures
Marc Ribot's work prominently. In 2009, the CD won five Grammy Awards,
including Album of the Year. Over the last two decades, Ribot also
contributed compositional score to a number of TV and movie
soundtracks, including material for the films "The Departed", "Down By
Law" and "Mystery Train".
On September 25, Marc Ribot will be
celebrating the release of his new album "Silent Movies". Ribot's
performance at The Kessler that night will include a live film score
for the Charlie Chaplin silent movie "The Kid". "Storytellers at
The Kessler" is a performing arts initiative driven by the motivation
of providing valuable insight into the actual creative process.
