Join us for our annual New Years’ Eve Celebration with Black Powder Vipers!

Ticket purchase includes dessert selections and a champagne toast.

Black Powder Vipers formed in the summer of 2016 with the sole purpose of preserving an American art form known as early jazz. Consisting of trumpet, clarinet, trombone, guitar/banjo, tuba and drums, the bands goal is to stay as authentic as possible while keeping the band stage hot with not only styles from New Orleans, but to also include Chicago, New York and San Francisco styles as well. The band is heavily influenced by the likes of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and his Hot 5 (and 7), Bix Beiderbecke, Turk Murphy, and San Antonio’s own Jim Cullum, Jr., to name a few.

Join us for our annual New Years’ Eve Celebration with The Singapore Slingers!

Ticket purchase includes dessert selections and a champagne toast.

The Singapore Slingers is Dallas’ number one source for pre-swing dance music. The orchestra features an expansive repertoire, specializing in the popular music of 1895-1935- fox trots, rags, marches, waltzes, and hot jazz, as well as one-steps, two-steps, tangos, and rhumbas.
The Singapore Slingers are unique- easily one of the most entertaining and fascinating musical acts around for miles. There is nothing like them in Dallas, or the entire state of Texas. The group has been under the direction of Matt Tolentino since 2007. The orchestra is his brainchild, and he has stocked it with some of Dallas’ finest players.
The Slingers are a true orchestra- they proudly boast 3 violins, viola, and cello, in addition to flute, clarinet, 3 saxophones, 2 trumpets, trombone, tuba, string bass, piano, drums, and banjo. The drummer doubles on xylophone, and the banjoist also plays guitar. Many of these instruments are of the period. The arrangements they perform are also true to the period, as they use authentic ‘stock’ orchestrations.

David Garza hosts an all-star holiday reunion gathering featuring a number of influential musicians from the 1980s-1990s Dallas music scene.

In addition to band members Clay Pendergrass (Jackopierce) and Michael Hale (the Love Beads), the show will feature Reggie Rueffer (Spot and Mildred), Jim Cocke (Mildred and About Nine Times), Bubba Hernandez (Brave Combo), Bryan Wakeland (Tripping Daisy/Polyphonic Spree), Paul Slavens (Ten Hands), and Patrice Pike (Sister 7).
David will do a short set, then each performer will do a song from their own catalog, and Garza will lead a jam session of these amazing musicians to wrap it up.

Irving, TX born David Garza has been making his mark since 1989 when he emerged from the fertile Austin, Texas music scene with his inimitable blend of glam rock, Latin folk, and blues. Through major label albums and a trove of indie releases, he has embodied the troubadour, the cabaret shaman, the punk provocateur, the poet, the painter – but always the storyteller. As a prolific genre jumper, he has broken cultural and music industry barriers while building an enduring catalog of compositions for live music, theatre, and film audiences.

Opening the evening will be Kristy Kruger along with Ginny Mac.

i started making up songs in 1986.
i made an album in 1994.
i also started a tour in 1994
and that tour is, in a way, still going.

i never made a record so good
that i could just sit home
or did a show so bad
that i had to.
and man, i’ve done some shit shows,
shit albums too.
some of them are pretty good though,
but you know,
it’s been a while.
i really need to put out a good album soon
or i’m finished.

sometimes these days i sing with a band.
i think we made a good album.
david schools of widespread panic is our leader.
i make up our lyrics….we’re a jam band.
our songs only go on about an hour or so but they’re still pretty long.

cool people jam with us all the time and we have like a million shirts and shit.
i personally think we’re the seventh best band in the whole jam thing.

on this tour i am coming to town with nothing but my guitar and stories
like the old days.
you know…
pick a little
talk a little
pick a little
talk a little
cheap cheap cheap
talk a lot
pick a little more.

and not to brag,
but i also wrote a book that everybody loves
so i am an author now.
plus i play everywhere,
pretty much all the time
everybody shows up
and they pretty much always love it.
